It’s time to embark on my fourth 30-day challenge! By now, you should be getting the hang of things.
If you’re just joining us, each month I’ll give you a new challenge that will help you discover your true potential, one small step at a time.
To join in, just complete the activity, take a quick selfie of you doing it, and post it on Instagram tagging @becker_living.
So, what’s this month’s challenge?
This month’s 30-day challenge is simple really; just dedicate 10 minutes each day to doing exactly what you want.
Many of us kid ourselves that this is something we’re already achieving. But, if you look at things closely, you’ll realise all is not as it seems.
A mother, for example, might think she’ll get ‘me time’ once the kids have gone to bed. In reality, she has so many roles to fulfil – preparing for the next day, being an attentive partner etc. – that she never truly switches off.
So, figure out what it is that you love doing on your own, and dedicate 10 minutes to it every day.
What are the benefits of a little ‘me time’?
There are so many benefits to dedicating 10 minutes of ‘me time’. This process can help you:
- Rejuvenate your brain by forgetting everyday worries
- Improve your sense of independence and self-esteem
- Discover something you never knew about yourself
- Break negative thought patterns and adopt a new perspective
- Enhance your relationships with others by helping you love who you are
How can I find the peace I need for a little ‘me time’?
Don’t just sit there twiddling your thumbs. Find an immersive physical or psychological experience that helps you transcend your normal routine. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Use natural beauty products to lather up and unleash your inner goddess. Exfoliate, moisturise, condition, apply a facemask; whatever makes you feel fabulous.
Meditation takes many forms, but its essence is a sense of mindfulness that sets you free from earthly trappings. Stay tuned for next month’s edition, and you might just pick up some tips…
Exercising keeps you fit, reduces stress and releases endorphins. This isn’t about improving on your personal best though. Find a secluded spot for a walk or jog, or try something low-impact and fluid like yoga, pilates or tai chi.
Set a specific time
If you have trouble sticking with this challenge, then schedule in a specific time each day like you would with any everyday responsibility.
Reading lets your imagination escape to a different land while your body and mind are rejuvenated.
Just 10 little minutes each day can make all the difference to how you feel about yourself and your lifestyle. I can’t wait to see pictures of you at peace and glowing brighter as the month goes on.
