Welcome back for my latest 30-day challenge! Each month, I’ll give you another dose of life coaching knowledge that can help you make a change for the better.

If you want to get involved, just snap a daily selfie of you completing the challenge and tag it up to my Instagram feed.

So, what’s this month’s challenge?

Have you ever waited on the approval of another, only to find they’re too wrapped up in their own little world? Or, felt a sense of worthlessness when you look in the mirror?

If so, this month’s challenge might just be for you. It’s simple really; just give yourself at least one heartfelt complement each day.

What are the benefits of complimenting yourself?

There are so many benefits to complimenting yourself every day. In fact, it’s something that can enhance all areas of your life.

By complimenting yourself each day, you will start to recognise and appreciate all the lovable qualities that make you who you are. That little self-esteem boost can even be the catalyst for a major life change.

Complimenting yourself can help you:

  • Define your own individuality
  • Recognise your inner and outer beauty
  • Believe in yourself
  • Accomplish what you want in life
  • Discover just how important you really are
  • Look after your psychological and nutritional needs

So, why wait for someone else to say those golden words? They might be too jealous or self-absorbed to let you know your true value. Define yourself, and your world will follow.

How can I make the most out of complimenting myself?

The beauty of this technique is its adaptability. You can do it anytime, anywhere, anyhow.

But, there’s some tips I’ve picked up along the way that I’d like to share with you:

Settle on a routine

If you’re the forgetful type, or if you just need a little extra nudge to get you started, try to build the compliment into your daily routine.

You might want to set yourself up for the day by complimenting yourself first thing in the morning, or save a little treat for after the kids go to bed.

The technique that works for me is to compliment myself every time I look in the mirror. I look myself square in the eyes, give myself a compliment, then seal the deal with a genuine, uplifting smile.

Compliment everything

Just as we can become on fixated specific faults, it’s easy to fall into the trap of complimenting a limited range of our features.

This exercise is about complimenting everything that makes you who you are. It doesn’t matter if you repeat yourself every now and again, but try to choose something different about yourself every time.

To give you a little inspiration, here’s my all-time top 5 favourite self-compliments:

  • “I am alive, and have an incredible world to explore”
  • “I’m loved – as a daughter, a friend and a partner”
  • “I have a job that lets me help others”
  • “My life has true meaning”
  • “I am in control of my own destiny”

These are what I call my ‘top line’ compliments. But, you can also focus on everyday things too, like making it to a meeting on time or avoiding an argument with your sibling. This is your chance to be creative!

I can’t wait to see your pics go up on Instagram, and I hope you find this challenge as rewarding as have.
